WelcomeTeam PHAT Tuesday was paired up with Corey Stewart as our Pedal Partner for the 2003 Pan-Mass Challenge. Corey Stewart, an eight-year-old from Plymouth, MA, was diagnosed on Sept. 22, 2001 with High Risk ALL Leukemia. He spent the first 58 days in the hospital. Then his parents, Katie & Eric, commuted him seven days a week for seven months as an outpatient. Corey’s parents were told the odds were 80% in his favor. Around Christmas time Corey asked his mother if he was going to live. After she shared the odds with Corey, He told her to call the Doctor and tell him--" I feel great and my odds are 81%!! Corey has a two-year protocol with nine months remaining (treatment). His hair is blotchy right now and he will probably lose more of it. Corey is in the first grade and small for his age. He weighs 45 lbs. |
