Menus are listed by month for elementary and by week for middle and high school in the column to the left.

2011 - 2012 School Lunch Prices:
Elementary: $2.00
Middle: $2.50
High School: $2.75
All lunches include milk. Milk may also be purchased separately for $.50 at all schools.

Lunch menus are subject to change without notice. Every effort will be made to adhere to the published menu, but difficulties with suppliers, equipment, or other extenuating circumstances may require that the menu be changed at the last minute. Children will still be served a nutritious lunch.

Vegetarian options are available at all schools every day. Ask your school's cafeteria manager for details.

The Franklin School Lunch Program designs our menus to meet the nutrition standards set by the USDA. Our goal is to serve children a nutritious lunch prepared under sanitary conditions, in pleasant surroundings and at an affordable price.

As part of No Child Left Behind, the School Committee has approved a Wellness Policy for the Franklin Public schools, which includes guidelines regarding the School Lunch Program. All meals are served with fruit and milk included as part of the price; no desserts are offered as part of a meal. Over the course of a week, meals must average no more than 30% of of calories from fat and no more than 10% of calories from saturated fat.

The guidelines below pertain to foods sold a la carte (such as chips, ice cream, cookies, etc). All snack items sold at elementary & middle schools should meet the guidelines below, and 90% of the snack items at the high school should meet these guidelines:
* No more than 30% of calories from fat, or a maximum of 10 grams of fat per serving.
* No more than 10% of calories from saturated or trans fat, or a maximum of 2 grams of saturated/trans fat per serving.
* No more than 30 grams of carbohydrates per serving.

Beverage Policy (also from the Franklin Public School Wellness Policy):

* No Franklin schools will sell soda or diet soda in any areas that are available to students.

* At all grade levels, milk is offered in a variety of types, including Skim, 1%, 2%, and chocolate. Water is also sold at all grade levels.

* Elementary - only varieties of milk and plain water are offered.

* Middle - in addition to milk and water, students are offered drinks made with 100% fruit juice. Students may also be offered calorie-free drinks such as flavored water or calorie-free "sports" drinks. These drinks may contain artificial sweeteners. Except for flavored milks, no drinks containing high-fructose corn syrup will be sold. Serving sizes for fruit juice will not exceed 12 oz; water and calorie-free drinks may be a maximum of 20 oz.

* High School - offers varieties of milk, water, flavored water, and 100% juice drinks including sparkling juice and "slushies." Low-calorie fruit-flavored or tea-flavored drinks and low-calorie sports drinks may also be sold. Any of these may contain artificial sweeteners. The high school may also offer other drinks that provide positive nutritional value (calcium, iron, vitamins, etc) as long as high-fructose corn syrup or sugar are not one of the two primary ingredients in these drinks. Maximum serving size for fruit juice is 12 oz, water and calorie-free drinks may be a maximum of 20 oz.
