Welcome to the Franklin Special Education Parent Advisory Council,

The mission of the Franklin SEPAC is to promote a network for parents of children with disabilities and provide a forum to share information and discuss matters of relative interest and concern regarding our children. This group provides regular forums for Pupil Personnel Services and parents to share information and discuss pertinent issues; develops, maintains and shares tools and a resource guide; and raises awareness of children with special needs.

Massachusetts state law requires each school district to create a district-wide parent advisory council (PAC) offering memberships to all parents and guardians of students receiving special services and other interested parties.  The current representation of the parents on the SEPAC encompasses a limited scope of disabilities, special needs and schools, and we seek to ensure that a wide representation of Franklin is included in the initiatives of the SEPAC.

Your participation will provide a unique opportunity to meet school officials and other parents, stay informed on policy and legislative changes, ask questions and discuss concerns, and learn something new. Your input into potential speaker topics, and other SEPAC initiatives of particular interest is also welcomed.

IMPORTANT:

Franklin schools have gone GREEN, so information about our events will no longer be going home with your children.  Please take the time to join our email newsletter at:  FranklinSEPAC@gmail.com.

Parent Support Programs

Please join us for our the informal Parent to Parent Meetings.  These laid back, support programs are held once a month or as needed through the school year. We conduct the meetings at a local coffee shop such as Panera's in Franklin in the morning.  We are also willing to conduct them in the evening based on the need. It is our hope that these meetings will provide a comfortable setting for Parents/Guardians to share, learn and exchange information.  We feel this will prove beneficial not only to our children with disabilities, but to our families, educators and all students in the community.  If you have questions or concerns about special education and your child and you are not sure where to start, feel free to join us. If you have been trying to navigate the system on your own and just need some support, we are here!

Next Meeting:

Tuesday, November 24th 9:30am

at Panera Bread in Franklin

For more information on these discussion groups please contact call
