Franklin SEPAC Meeting Minutes – July 12, 2007

Informal Meeting to go over the programs and plan for the new year opened by John Forte at 7:05 pm
Minutes
• Reviewed and approved last emeeting minutes from June 06, 2007.

General Business Discussions/Actions
• Transition Plan – Treasurer transitioning: Action – Sharon to meet with the previous treasurer and to remove John Chickering off of the account and to verify Sharon is now on the account.
• Open from 6/6/07 meeting: John Chickering suggested an article on SEPAC. He is acquainted with Michael Morton. A suggestion could be made to write an article on the SEPAC and at the bottom of the article list the programs.
• Suggestion was made to speak at the individual schools open houses.
• Open from 6/6/07 meeting: A suggestion was made to hold a Children’s Participatory Theatre (Once Upon A Time Boston). Action: John Chickering knows someone who does these events. The SEPAC officers are discussing options outside of our normal programs to schedule this event. This would take a lot of preparation and advertisement.
• Updated spreadsheet of emails of the officers – Action: John F. will send this out again to the officers.
• Open from 6/6/07 meeting: SEPAC Speakers are not making it into the local newspapers. Action – Jill to find out why.

Programs Discussion:
• Social Session in September. A suggestion was made to provide brief introductions of each officer. A discussion was had on a questionnaire of what type of speakers they were interested in. General discussion at this meeting.
• Tentative speaker topics. Action: Pam to fill in the speakers, topics, and different dates.
I. Homework Part 2 – this was a big hit last year.
II. Question of the New High School Principal speaking
III. Yelling doesn’t work speaker
IV. Executive Functioning
V. Parents Rights
VI. Will and estate planning – restriction on the speaker as to not solicit free business
VII. Hoyt’s Team Inspirational Speaker
VIII. ? Bullying speaker – Dr. Ann Bergen – Middle School
IX. ADHD Speaker

Motion to adjourn meeting. Motion seconded and voted to adjoin.
