Dear Parent/Guardian:

Your child is not eligible for free bus transportation.

The transportation policy for the 2010-2011 school year is detailed below:

1.        All students in grades K to 6 who reside more than 2.0 miles from their assigned schools will be bused free of charge.

2.        Students in grades 7 through 12 are not eligible for free bus transportation.

The Pay To Ride Program enrollment period will begin on June 7, 2010 and end on July 9, 2010 at 4:00 p.m.  Parent/Guardians who enroll during this time period will be guaranteed bus seats.  The cost per child is $325.00 with a cap of $975.00 per family.  Applications must be received in the drop box (before the close of the business day of 4:00 p.m.) or postmarked by July 9, 2010.  The only exceptions to this deadline will be for families who move into Franklin (or relocate within Franklin) after July 9, 2010.  Parents who do not meet the July 9th regular enrollment deadline will have a second opportunity to enroll their child/children on a space available basis as of September 27, 2010.

First payment (1/2 or full) will be due at the time of enrollment.  The second payment (balance) will be due by August 6, 2010.  Visa, Master card, or checks are acceptable forms of payment.  Parents who use credit cards may fax their enrollment forms.  The fax number is 508-553-4897.

You can now register and/or pay on-line!  Go to www.franklin.k12.ma.us  - click on Lifelong and then click on Transportation and you can register and/or pay on-line.  If you wish to pay by check, you can register on-line and send check via mail or you can register on-line and pay on-line if you are using MasterCard or Visa.  If you are mailing a check, please include a note that you did register on-line.  Registration and payment must be completed by July 9, 2010 by 4:00 p.m. to guarantee a seat on a bus.  Half payments can be done on-line and you can return to do your second payment on-line.

For your convenience, a drop box will be located on the 3rd floor of the School Administration Office at 355 East Central Street, where it may be dropped off Monday-Friday between 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
