Dear Davis Thayer Parents, Welcome back to Davis Thayer! My name is Erin Munichiello, and I will serve my second year as the PCC co-chair for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year. Lisa Daley, another Davis Thayer parent, will serve with me as co-chair as well. I have a daughter Claire who is in second grade and my son Owen will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. (sniffle, sniffle) You will soon come to realize you have just become a part of one of the best schools in Franklin! I’m bias, I know, but I have come to love this school, it’s staff, it’s close knit community-feeling that it brings to me and my family everyday. What is the PCC? Well, it’s all of us parents. It stands for Parent Communication Council, and it is a 100% parent volunteer group. That’s YOU! There are no fees, no catches, just a lot of helping out when needed to make your child’s school year as FUN and educational as it possibly can be. The PCC is in charge of organizing and funding ALL of the outside events for the students, both enrichment programs and fun events. Some of these include: • Field trips for all ages • Our biggest fundraiser .......“Lets Bid for the Kids” Auction Night (last year we raised $18,000!) • Playground equipment and library books • In-school education based programs • FUN Fair in June (food, face painting, snow cones, games!) • Spring Fling (K-2) and Fall Boogie (3-5)... A night-time gig with a DJ, fun food, prizes and good times. And SO much more. So how can you help? You can volunteer at an event, offer to bake for a teacher luncheon, organize flowers for Staff Flower Day, or help with photos for the yearbook. What if you are a working parent? Many activities and events are in the evening, or later afternoon. Or you could offer to buy snacks or water for an event. EVERY BIT HELPS! You may sign up to help on the blue PCC sheet that lists the events, and what is needed in terms of volunteers. It’s a fantastic way to meet new people and become involved in your child’s school. We also would love to see some new faces at our monthly PCC meetings. All are welcome, including siblings. And we hope to see you there. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you and wish you and your child the best year at Davis Thayer. Warmly, Erin Munichiello |
