National Honor Society

 Membership Overview

Students will be considered for National Honor Society membership during junior year after Term 3 grades have been distributed and again during senior year after Term 1 grades have been distributed. To maintain membership, students must demonstrate exemplary character, perform service to the community, and maintain academic standards. The National Honor Society members serve as tutors at the middle schools and high school, as well as participte in several community service projects throughout their membership.

Eligible juniors and seniors must have a cumulative B+ average (12 GPA or higher). Once academic eligibility has been determined, potential members must provide requested personal data, as well as receive high recommendations from the staff and faculty of the high school. The student must also submit two letters of recommendation from individuals who have supervised his or her activities outside of the normal classroom setting, attesting to the student's service, leadership, and character. Selection to National Honor Society is made by a faculty council, not the advisor.

Currently, the junior academic eligibility is in process and should be completed on Tuesday, 4/29. I ancticipate that informational packets will be distributed on Wednesday, 4/30. Completed informational packets, as well as letters of reference, must be returned to Ms. Lawson in B 202 by Wednesday, 5/7. INDUCTION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, 5/13.

Please contact Ms. Lawson, N.H.S. advisor, at lawsonk@franklin.k12.ma.us with any questions.
