Franklin Runners

 

 

Running on Franklin’s new home course, the boy’s team made their presence known with an impressive win against North Attleboro and Canton today.

 

Was it the grass course?  Maybe the huge home crowd? Something made Franklin’s runners set new PRs and jostle for a new pecking order.

 

With a cold wind and overcast skies, the boys followed the lead of Hobbs of Canton.  Instead of the usual Hood Henry exchange at the end, a resurgent Gutkowski took the lead Franklin position and held it to the finish, scoring 8 seconds behind Hobbs and setting a Franklin High School record on it’s home course.

 

Henry came in strong behind Gutkowski with Lazzeri moving up strong and finishing 3^rd for Franklin and 4^th overall.  Hood pulled in behind Lazzeri, with Butera, and May following up in 5^th, 8^th, and 11^th positions overall.

 

If O’Donague goes any faster he will pass Melfi and be the new 6^th man.  With mini-Gutkowski and Klingenstein leading the freshman, Franklin’s future looks good going into a head-to-head battle with OA next week.
