Sportsmanship Award Honor![]() * The Varsity Baseball Team won the 1st Annual Statewide Sportsmanship Award. Franklin High School was chosen from among all high schools in the state that field baseball teams by Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic association. * The MIAA first solicited nominations through league coaches and umpires, then asked each of the four nominated teams to present an essay on sportsmanship. "We emphazize with our kids (on all levels) not to dwell on the negatives (bad hops, umpire calls, errors) accept it and move on...... play the game." * The award is to the Massachusetts high school team that best displays teamwork, fair play, and responsible conduct. * The "icing on the cake" for the FHS Baseball team was being guests of the Boston Red Sox on July 2nd vs. Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. The players were allowed on the field before the game and were introduced while their names appeared on the jumbo screen. The captains and Coach P received the plaque on the field from Bill Gaine of the MIAA. They were also presented another plaque during the finals of the Division II game at Worcester's Tivnan Park. Congratulations guys on this great honor. |
