Welcome!
Empty Bowls is an international charity project that raises money and awareness for the persistent issues of hunger within our community and throughout the world. The first half of this project includes organizational planning for the year-long student committee members' work. The committee runs bowl-making workshops to increase community members' access to the arts, while also extending community awareness of the Empty Bowls Events. Other events have included Empty Bowls Cookbooks, Ice Cream Socials, a Silent Auction, Food Drives and Clothing Drives. Local vendors' and community members' donations include: raffle items, food, dinner supplies, and of course a huge amount of support and encouragement! All of the above planning and preparation contributes to the EB Charity Events. Each participant takes home the complimentary Empty Bowl of their choice -- as a reminder of the hunger that plagues our society and of our efforts to create positive change through community activism.
The FHS Empty Bowls events were funded for three consecutive years by Franklin Education Foundation Grants. Additionally, numerous local vendors, students, faculty members, and community members have offered goods and services to aid our cause. We are now self-sustaining as we enter our 7th year of Empty Bowls events! ALL PROCEEDS SUPPORT THE FRANKLIN FOOD PANTRY.
