Stock Market Challenge

Students in the Financial Literacy class will start preparing for the fall stock market challenge. Through this simulated stock market, the students are able to experience both the highs and lows of investing in the market. Students work in teams of three to five students. They are given $100,000 to spend. They must resarch companies and decide as a group which stocks to purchase. They must write a report telling which stock they purchased, why they purchased it, the number of shares and the purchase price. They must be able to explain in one sentence what the company does.

Students then decide for which company they want to be resposnible. Each student must then stay on top of that company. They must each week create a report telling the value of their purchase, did it go up or down and did anything occur during the week that impacted their stock. If they purchase more share or sell any shares, they must explain why they did purchased or sold share.
