Welcome

The Franklin High School Science Department offers students a wide variety of courses in the biological, earth, and physical sciences. Introductory courses are aligned with the Massachusetts Science/Technology Framework, and elective courses build on that foundation. To learn more about the science framework, refer to the Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks. Science course offerings include options for students of all abilities in every grade. By experiencing four years of science, students develop many interconnected ideas about the natural world. Through a variety of learning experiences including observing, experimenting, modeling, critical thinking, and validating, students achieve a comprehensive and reliable understanding of the human species and its environment.

The union of science and mathematics is essential to the success of the scientific endeavor. Therefore, students should consider their mathematical proficiency when considering the appropriate science course.
