WelcomeSeptember 14, 2009 PCC MinutesSuzanne Senackerib, PCC President introduced herself and the PCC Board for 2009-2010. She spoke about what the PCC does. They are the communication between parents and the principal. The PCC does not do any fundraising. Their budget comes strictly from pictures. The PCC will accept any direct donations. They do organize some events throughout the year and coordinate volunteers such as: • Photo Day • Honor Roll Breakfasts - twice a year. • Teacher Appreciation Breakfast • Panther Pride Night – October 21st • Graduation Events such as Senior Breakfast in June Jeanne Hummel, PCC Treasurer went over the treasurer report. It was also discussed that volunteers were needed for Panther Pride Night. They need volunteers for afternoon setup and also for the evening. A signup sheet was passed around. Volunteers will also be needed for the All Night Party. The meeting was then turned over to Principal Peter Light, who was our guest speaker. Mr. Light had a slide presentation and discussed in detail all of the upcoming changes at the school this year. Topics covered were: • Schedule changing from seven to six periods to reduce class size in core subjects and increase instructional time in each subject for entire year • Staffing changes • Changes in Physical Education requirements and three pathways that may be chosen (P.E. classes to start this Friday) • Technology Update (school Wi-Fi access, laptops available in Technology Center) • New Edline Website (access by students and parents, grades should be available to view by October 1st, homework will not be required to be posted by teachers) • New cell phone policy (messages can be checked between classes, calls can be made between classes IN OFFICE ONLY) • Social Probation (new policy in handbook) Mr. Light will post his Power Point presentation in the "For Parents" folder on the website. Upcoming meetings: November 2nd – speaker: Superintendent Maureen Sabolinski January 11th – Focus on Student Safety, Alcohol & Drug issues. Speaker TBA March 1st TBA May 3rd TBA |
