_______________________________ A. Read the below poem. B. Review your pet peeve list and
ask yourself how could the peeve be seen in a different light. For
example: people singing at the top of their lungs during ballads at concerts. I
could think, “I’m happy that I was at the concert in the tenth row.” C. On separate sheet join the left and right hand columns so
that you create a Gratitude Poem of your own in the style of the below poem. Use the below sentence structure to build your poem by plugging
in a pet peeve from the left-hand column and a positive transformation from the
glass half full column. Be thankful for…..because it means….. Example: Be thankful for people singing at the top of their lungs
during ballads at concerts because it means
I was at the concert in the tenth row. One Thanksgiving Ann Landers
published in her column a list of things to be thankful for that had been sent
to her from someone else. Here is how that list read: *"Be thankful for the
clothes that fit a little too snuggly because it means that you have enough to
eat. Be thankful for the mess you
clean up after a party because it means you have been surrounded by friends. Be thankful for the taxes you
pay because it means you are employed. Be thankful that your lawn
needs mowing and your windows need fixing because it means you have a home. Be thankful for your heating
bill because it means you are warm. Be thankful for your laundry
because it means you have clothes to wear. Be thankful for the space you
found at the far end of the parking lot because it means you can walk. Be thankful for the lady who
sings off key behind you in church because it means you can hear. Be thankful when people
complain about the government because it means we have freedom of speech. Be thankful for the alarm that
goes off in the early morning hours because it means you are alive." |
