WelcomeYou Are The Expert (53 points)"What I hear, I forget. What I hear and see, I remember a little. What I hear, see and ask questions about or discuss with someone else, I begin to understand. What I hear, see, discuss, and do, I acquire knowledge and skill. What I teach to another, I master." You and your partner(s) are responsible for producing the following things: A lesson to be given to the class on your topic. A lesson plan A handout summarizing the key items including examples. A multimedia “review” of your topic. It should be in the form of a game in Powerpoint, Word, etc You will have the entire class period in which to present your lesson, review your handouts and play your game. Your grade will count as a test and will be based on the following things: 1. Effective use of class time. A daily evaluation will be done by the teacher(s) on each member of the team using this scale. 0 - no work was accomplished 1 - little work accomplished; 2 - worked all class with few distractions; and 3 - worked all class with no distractions. 2. Development of a Lesson Plan that covers the topic(s) assigned. There is a Lesson Plan Template for you to use. See the rubric for the lesson plan. Be sure the template is filled out completely, thoroughly, in ink (or typed) and is neat (no cross outs or smudges). 3. Success at meeting the objectives in the Lesson Plan. See the Algebra Lesson Rubric. Your lesson should be organized, have complex problems, be accurate and complete. You should also include an appropriate warm up to your topic. 4. The lesson should be presented in a professional, well rehearsed manner that includes everyone in the group. It should be at least 15 minutes long. See the Presentation of Lesson Rubric. 5.Creating a professional handout (typed or neatly written, no cross outs or smudges) that covers the objectives, is accurate and offers accurate examples. The handout and copies should be ready on time. See the Handout Rubric. 6. Development of a Review Game that reinforces and includes all of the objectives, is accurate, creative, attractive, complete and offers complex questions. The Review Game must make use of the computer interfaced projector. 7. Creativity in your presentation, lesson, handout and Review Game should be demonstrated. Total Points: Effective use of classtime 12 points Lesson Plan 6 points Lesson 12 points Handout 4 points Presentation of lesson 7 points Review Game 12 points Total points 53 points Time Frame: You will have 2 class periods this week and Monday and Tuesday of next week to work on gathering your information, developing the lesson plan and working on your handouts and presentation. I have booked the laptops for Friday, Monday and Tuesday. The order of the presentations will be randomly drawn. If a group is not ready on the day they are scheduled to present, they will lose 20% of their presentation grade for each day they are late. It is the responsibility of the team to make sure that the materials needed for the presentation are centrally located in case a member is absent. Not having a full team is not a reason for postponement. |
