Meet Mr. Diamand

"I was born on September 1st, 1960 during an unusually early blizzard in the backwoods of Maine. I joined 12 brothers and sisters that day in a crowded one-room shack that my family shared miles from the nearest town. We were poor, but happy..."

Um…That actually is not true. I was born in Maine, but I was raised in Norwood, MA with a normal family that lived in a normal house. Boring, but true. All through my school years I played sports, like baseball and soccer, but I especially loved snow skiing, water skiing, and playing the drums. After high school I attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where I majored in marketing.

After graduating from college, my first career was in retailing. I moved to New York City and worked for Lord &Taylor in their executive training program. One year later I decided I was not quite ready for a career yet and decided to travel. For two months I traveled around the U.S. by myself. I landed in Aspen, Colorado and pursued my love of skiing. I worked for a ski resort in Snowmass Village and was also a crew chief for the Unicorn Hot Air Balloon Company.

Two years later, I found myself back in Norwood where I joined my brother in the household moving and storage business. We built that business for nine years before selling it. During this time I met my amazing wife Lori and had two wonderful children. Justin is now 20 and Ariana is almost 18.We used to live in Franklin, but moved to Wrentham about 17 years ago.

After selling our business I turned my thoughts toward teaching having come from a family of many teachers. I went back to school and earned my masters degree in elementary education from Lesley University. I taught third grade for one year at the charter school in Franklin and I am now entering my thiteenth year as a fifth grade teacher at Jefferson. When I am not teaching, I enjoy carpentry and home renovation projects, spending time with my family, and reading among other things. I love being a teacher and feel fortunate to be part of the Jefferson community.
