Help Support Jefferson At Isabella's

Dear Parents/Guardians:

On behalf of the Jefferson Elementary Parent Communication Council (PCC), I would like to extend a warm welcome to all families new to our school and welcome back to all returning families. My name is Beth Raffin and I am pleased to serve a second term as President of the PCC for the 2009/2010 school year.

The PCC is a dedicated group of volunteers who work together to enrich the learning environment for our children and provide support to the teachers and staff. Through fundraising activities, the PCC is able to provide special activities and programs throughout the year including class field trips, classroom supplies for special projects and the Artist in Residence program, to name a few.

Parent/Guardian involvement is essential to the success of the PCC. Quite simply, without your help, the PCC is limited. Every parent/guardian has some time or talent that can be offered to the PCC. This could be an hour a month or simply baking, copying, student banking, or raking leaves on a Saturday to clean up the school grounds. Your time and effort will, in the long-run, support your child’s education.

Many times, parents/guardians have commented that they cannot be involved because they work. While most PCC meetings are held during work hours, this year we will work to accommodate a wide range of parent/guardian schedules and hold a general meeting after business hours in October and, if attendance justifies, again in the spring. Some committee meetings take place in the evening, or committee business is handled via email, or a phone call and requires very little time. In addition, there is a misconception that the PCC is comprised of all women – this is not the case! We have several men who volunteer time and chair committees, and their involvement is essential to the success of the PCC.

Bottom-line, we need you!! Please look over the attached list of committees and read each description. There is something to appeal to everyone’s talents or interests!

Please consider becoming involved with the PCC. The various activities that take place throughout the school year are not only fun to be involved in, but truly are helping your children. You are our greatest asset and crucial to the ongoing success of our PCC.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you this year.

Warm Regards,

Beth Raffin ~ Jefferson PCC President bethraffin@yahoo.com
