I am entering my 14th year of teaching here in Franklin. I have a BA in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic and an MS in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan. I attended Lesley University for post-graduate work in elementary education. I spent the first 14 years of my career teaching environmental science. I worked for a variety of environmental organizations including the Hitchcock Center for the Environment and the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. I have many wonderful memories of this time in my life -- birding in Costa Rica, conducting a sea bird and marine mammal census on Mt. Desert Rock off the coast of Maine, and owling with friends at 3:00 am on cold winter mornings.

Although I loved teaching about the environment, I eventually realized that what I really wanted to do was to teach children to read. Reading is my passion. I cannot imagine a day without reading. Passing on this love of reading is my highest priority.
My husband and I live in nearby Rhode Island. We moved there from the Boston area about 11 years ago. I was born in Rhode Island so it was a homecoming for me.

I spend my free time reading, gardening, quilting, sitting by the ocean, and traveling. My idea of a perfect day is sitting in my garden or at the ocean on a summer day reading a good book. Over the years I have traveled to Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Costa Rica, France, Ireland, Italy, the Canadian Rockies, and islands in the
Caribbean.
I love teaching. I am grateful that I am able to do work that is so rewarding. Young children are enthusiastic, energetic, imaginative, and humbling. I can’t imagine doing anything else!
