Thomas Jefferson Memorial honors our third president, Thomas Jefferson. The Memorial was built in 1939. It was dedicated in 1943. The statue of Thomas Jefferson is 19 feet tall. It was designed by Rudulph Evans and is made of bronze. The pedistal is made of black granite. The building and columns are made of white marble. The writings that border the statue are carved into the white Georgian marble. This Memorial is located south of the White House. In conclusion, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a very important and beautiful memorial. There are many interesting facts about the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial was built on the 200th anniversary of Jefferson’s birth. His famous writings border the beautiful statue. The Memorial is a circular building and that is open on the sides with a statue of Thomas Jefferson in the center. There are 26 columns around the outside. This Memorial is part of the National Park System. In closing, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a very interesting place. Thomas Jefferson was a very important person. Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13th, 1743. He is the author of The Declaration of Independence. He was elected Virginia’s governor from 1779 to 1781. He was President of the U.S.A from 1801 to 1809. He served President for 2 terms. His Vice Presidents were Aaron Burr and George Clinton. Thomas Jefferson is on the two dollar bills. One type of the two dollar bill is old, rare, and valuable and one type is new. Thomas Jefferson died on July 4th, 1843 (Independence Day!). All in all, Thomas Jefferson was a very independent and caring person.
