The kindergarten curriculum aligns with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Franklin Public School System’s Curriculum Guides. The goal of our full-day kindergarten is to address the curriculum areas and teach them thoroughly. Our full-day programs allow each child time to enhance his/her social development, make discoveries, and explore through enriching learning activities.This kindergarten experience is the cornerstone of his/her education.

Kindergarten Expectations:
MATH
Learning Through Manipulative Material:
Count by ones to 30
Match quantities to 20
Compare sets of objects
Begin to solve basic addition and subtraction problems using objects
Identify position of objects
Estimate the number of objects in a group
Understand the concept of whole and half
Identify U.S. coins by name
Sort by shape, size, and number
Recognize, create, and extend patterns
Skip count by fives and tens up to 100
Name, describe, compare, and draw geometric shapes
Measure items using manipulatives
Compare length, width, and capacity
Compare and graph data

LANGUAGE ARTS
Letter recognition and sounds
Learn letter formation
Understand that print has meaning and purpose
Understand left-to-right progression and top to bottom of text
Increase vocabulary and expressive language
Gain the ability to listen to others
Be able to identify story elements, such as characters, setting, and sequence of story events
Learn to express themselves through drawing and writing
Learn to ask and answer questions

SCIENCE
The Kindergarten Science Curriculum Incorporates Four Domains Of Science:
Earth Science
Life Science
Physical Science
Technology Science
Exploring these four scientific domains of science involves:
Classifying information
Collecting and recording data
Comparing and contrast
Experimenting
Communication
Discussion

SOCIAL STUDIES
Social studies incorporates the domains of geography, economics, civics and government, and history.
The children will begin to explore the diverse world of people and their community
Be introduced to maps and globe skills
Develop an awareness of their town and school community
Develop an understanding of citizenship
Give examples of different kinds of jobs that people do, and explain why people work
Use correctly words and phrases related to chronology and time
