General Information and Requirements

General Information and Requirements

Lunch

  • Hot lunch, lunchable, pizza, tuna, peanut butter & jelly, and grilled cheese sandwiches can be purchased for $1.50, or milk only for $.30. Money is easily lost or misplaced if not kept in a small purse, wallet or sealed envelope. Lunch will be from 12:00 - 12:20 each day followed by recess from 12:20 - 12:40.

Snack

  • Snack time is approximately 10:00 each day. Please be aware of any serious food allergies in your child's class when selecting a snack for your child. Also, keep in mind that snacks should be simple and healthy. Snacks are eaten in the classroom while we are working. Children need to have all utensils necessary to eat their snack. Napkins or wipes are helpful and useful.

Tardiness

  • We certainly understand that, for a variety of reasons, there will be occasions when getting to school at the appropriate time will be difficult. However, we request your support in understanding the important lesson that being "at your job, on time, and ready to go," teaches our children.

Specialists

  • Specialists include Music, Art, Spanish, Library, and Physical Education. Specialist schedules vary from class to class. Please be aware of your child's schedule. It is required that the children wear sneakers for Physical Education class. Please send in an art smock for us to keep in the classroom ready upon request from the art teacher. Children will be allowed to borrow books from the school library during library class. It will be their responsibility to return them the following week.

Traveling Folders

  • The children are required to carry all notices and homework (including monthly reading calendars) in their traveling folders. These folders must "travel" from school to home each day, in the child's backpack. No traveling folder means no homework! Your cooperation is extremely important in order to teach essential organizational skills. Please review the contents of your child's traveling folder daily. We expect the children to take care in handling these folders but certainly realize that they are not heavy duty enough to last for the entire year. We will replace them about mid year.

Book Clubs

  • We will be sending out order forms for Scholastic books about once a month. Although you are not obligated to purchase these books, it's a nice way to encourage reading and add to your child's library at reasonable prices. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY CASH. Please make your payment in the form of a personal check and please double check the total.

Tissues

  • Tissues are more popular than you could ever imagine! It would be helpful if each family could donate at least one box of tissues.

Birthdays

  • We celebrate each child's birthday at snack time on the day of his/her birthday, or close to it. He/she will be responsible for bringing a birthday snack for the entire class, such as cupcakes, cookies or hoodsies. Whole cakes are usually more difficult to serve in the time frame we have. Also, please include the plates, napkins, cups, etc. Please inform us approximately a day in advance of the birthday snack. We will celebrate the summer birthdays at an end of the year party in June. *** We need to request that invitations to individual birthday parties not be sent to school for distribution to the children, UNLESS all children in the classroom are invited.***
