The Fifth Grade Homework Notebook Notice

The 5thJ. F. Kennedy School The Fifth Grade Homework Notice

Dear Parents and Guardians,

During the past several years, the fifth and sixth grade teachers have discussed ways to improve the students’ transition from elementary to middle school. The major concern was to strengthen study and organizational skills. It was also suggested that children need to develop more responsibility for homework and class preparation. In an effort to accomplish these goals, we have given each student a homework notebook and they are required to keep a written record of all assignments. You should expect to see it brought home every day. Fifth graders may have fifty to sixty minutes of homework on Mondays through Thursdays. Should the book be lost, it must be replaced at a cost of four dollars.

Students not completing assignments on a regular basis will have to make them up during recess times or per arrangement with you. You will be notified if more than three assignments are missing during a marking period.

Children will not be allowed to call home for forgotten items. Please help us by not bringing in work, books, money, etc. that your child may have left at home. These things should be your child’s responsibility.

We know special family holidays and events are important. If homework should conflict with a religious holiday, please send in a note to notify your child’s classroom teacher.

We hope that you will support our goals, and with our combined efforts, we will help the children become more responsible, more organized, and better prepared.

Sincerely,
The Fifth Grade Team

I have read the homework notebook notice.
