Curriculum

What Will My Child Learn in Kindergarten?

Our curriculum is based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks. The following are topics and standards addressed in kindergarten.

    • Retells main idea and basic facts in a story

    • Draws pictures and/or uses letters to express ideas
    • Prints uppercase letters using correct motor patterns with a model
    • Prints lowercase letters using correct motor patterns with a model
    • Prints numerals 0-9 using correct motor patterns with a model
    • Arranges picture cards in a three-step sequence and tells the story

Mathematics

    Number Sense and Operations
    • Counts by one’s to 30
    • Compares sets of up to 10 objects
    • Matches quantities up to 20 with numerals

    • Sorts and classifies objects
    • Identifies, extends, and creates simple patterns

    • Names, describes, draws two-dimensional shapes
    • Recognizes the names of three-dimensional objects

    • Uses and records nonstandard units of measure
