Welcome to Speech Language Therapy

This is my 4th year at Kennedy Elementary School, and I'm very excited to be working with the students here!

Speech and language services are delivered at Kennedy through a variety of methods. Direct service is provided via the inclusion model and in a pull-out setting, as appropriate. Direct service is also provided in Social Pragmatic Language Groups, which are co-led by the School Psychologist. Consultative services are provided, as recommended. Speech and Language Assessments are conducted to determine initial eligibility and also as part of a three year re-evaluation, as appropriate.

I graduated with both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. I have worked in public schools in Maryland, Texas, Arkansas and now here in Massachusetts. I began my career working in elementary and middle schools in Anne Arundel County and Caroline County Public Schools in Maryland. I taught there for eleven years. My family was transferred to Texas in 1999. I worked for Allen Independent School District for three years in elementary, middle and high school buildings. We were transferred yet again to Arkansas in 2002. While we were there I enjoyed working at elementary, middle and high schools in the area. Our last move in 2004 brought us to Franklin.

I grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. When it was time to choose a college, I decided that I wanted to attend a small school but give living in the city a try. Loyola College was the perfect choice. While in college I met my husband. We have two wonderful children. They keep us busy with their interests and activities as we move around the country. Our many moves have allowed us to experience all of the great cultural opportunites this country has to offer. Our family loves to eat blue crabs sitting by the rivers on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Relaxing on the beach, reading a good book is always a great way to spend some time. In Texas, we loved the warm weather in the winter! Our family enjoyed attending the Cotton Bowl each New Year's Day. In Arkansas we traveled all over the state attending our children's swim meets. We learned to "call the Hogs" at the University of Arkansas Razorback Football games. Tex-Mex food is absolutely a family favorite. Now that we are back in the northeast, we are enjoying winter once again with skiing, sledding and playing in the snow. It is nice to get back to the beach in the summer time.
