Meet Mrs. Buchheister

Teaching is the perfect career for me because I love children, books and plants! Every day, I greet my Fourth Grade with a smile and a cheery “Good Morning, Boys and Girls!” Children, shelves of books, and a windowsill filled with plants surround me!

Through nurturing and hard work, both the children and the plants blossom and grow as the year passes. It is exciting to share in this growth because I see the seeds of the future being planted each day!

Originally, I wanted to be a mathematician or an engineer, but soon combined these interests with teaching children. I earned my BA in elementary education with a math/science concentration from Oakland University in Michigan and started teaching. After moving to Massachusetts with my husband, my love of books influenced me to become a certified reading specialist. I earned my master’s degree from Antioch University. I am still taking college classes because there is so much to learn!

At home, I like to relax with my family and pets. My cat, Pumpkin, likes to enjoy some good reading material as she naps. My dog, Cody, likes to wear bandanas and bark at bikes, birds, and cars. On summer days I like to visit parks or museums and read stacks of pleasure books! Weekends find me kayaking on local ponds enjoying the water and the various shore birds. I also enjoy the perennial flowers in my yard and ride on the back of our Honda Shadow motorcycle!
