PCC Meeting Minutes – April 10, 2007

April meeting called to order by Kim Dimarino at 10:15am – There were 11 people in attendance.

Principal Report by Judi Bassignani

  • The Volunteer Luncheon will be Thursday, April 26th 11:00am – 12:30pm – The teachers will be cooking for all the Parmenter Volunteers.
  • The first round of MCAS testing is over.  Results will be released in the fall.  Grade 3 will be tested in reading and math.  Grade 4 in reading and long composition.  Grade 5 will be tested in reading, math, and science.  The history test is a try-out, no scores will be released for that test.  The next round of MCAS testing for grades 3, 4, and 5 will begin May 14th and end May 29th.
  • Book Fair is this week.  You can also visit the Book Fair during our Night of the Arts this Thursday from 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
  • The Can Drive is scheduled for this Saturday, April 14th, from 8:00am – 12:00pm in the loop.  If you will be away you can bring cans to Parmenter this week in plastic bags and we will make sure they become part of the can drive.  The Car Wash is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th.  Both of these events will benefit the Grade 5 Celebration.
  • Grade 1 Field Trip to the Acton Museum will take place on Wednesday, April 25th.
  • This is the last week for the Before School Clubs.  Fast ForWord will end June 1st.
  • Picture Day has been moved to Friday, May 11th.
  • Kindergarten Information Night (Parents Only) is Wednesday, May 2nd at 6:10pm view classrooms and 6:30pm in café.
  • The last day of school is Thursday, June 14th.  The last day for kindergartners is Friday, June 8th – Kindergarten screening will take place on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of June.
  • Mrs. Sarapas will be retiring at the end of the school year.

Treasurer's Report by Susan Moll & Louella Long

Opening Balance for March: $10,869.

  • Income: Popcorn YTD $624, Isabella's $238, Sound Studio $216, Target Credit Card $236, Talent Show $940, Memo Pads $93, Panda Wear $40
  • Expenses: FEF $300, PCC Supplies $77, Talent Show $58, Cultural $575, Panda Wear $604, Popcorn $103, Field Day $653.

General Business

  • Officer McLean came to visit with us and he spoke about the Lockdown Status at the Franklin Schools and about Parmenter's.  He met with the Parmenter Faculty last week to discuss the plans.  The teachers will prepare the children before a Lockdown drill happens.
  • Jim Robbins is running the Boston Marathon to support his wife Claire who is battling cancer.  He is the parent of 2 students at Parmenter.  If anyone wants to make a donation they can contact him at 774-571-5610 or visit his webpage at www.dfmarathon.kinter.org.
  • Any child that did not receive their ribbon after the talent show please get in contact with Kim Dimarino.

Committee Report:

  • Auction – Please send in your RSVP's, don't miss this event it is so fun and a nice night out.
  • Talent Show – Very successful and a big thank you to all the bakers and all the parents that helped with the show.

New Business:

  • A Special Meeting will be called for the superintendent to come and speak to us about next year's budget regarding the Franklin School System.  Please join us on Monday, April 23rd at 7:00pm.  This is very informative and a must see and hear!
  • Looking into a fund raiser for a night out for the parents in September – will keep you posted.
  • Fund Raiser possibility in June – Parmenter Craft & Yard Sale - more to follow.

Meeting Adjourned at 11:30am – Next Meeting is April 23rd at 7:00pm in the Parmenter Library (Special Meeting for the Franklin School Budget) Very Important
