PCC Meeting Minutes – May 11, 2007

May meeting called to order by Kim Dimarino at 10:15am – There were 10 people in attendance.

Principal Report by Judi Bassignani

On behalf of the entire faculty and staff I would like to thank Mrs. Cathy Maguire and her committee for the fabulous Teacher Appreciation Luncheon we all enjoyed on Friday, May 4th. I would also like to thank all of you for the gift of the video recorder and Mrs. Patty Mezzadri for the gift certificates for each teacher. Lois and I would like to thank you for the candy and the flowers.

The 2007 – 2008 school calendars were sent home with the May newsletter. Some important dates to remember:

  • Monday, August 27th 5:30pm – 6:30pm Tour Night
  • Tuesday, August 28th First day of school for grades 1-5 and Kindergarten Orientation from 10:00am – 11:00am.
  • Wednesday, August 29th will be the first day of school for half of the Kindergarten students. The other half will go on Thursday, August 30th and all Kindergarten students will come to school on Friday, August 31st.

Upcoming Dates to remember:

  • MCAS testing in grades 3/4/5 starts on May 15th and ends on May 29th.
  • Our Memorial Day concert is Friday, May 25th at 9:30am.
  • Kindergarten Concert is Friday, June 1st.
  • Fast Forword last day Friday, June 1st.
  • Ice Cream Social is May 31st.
  • Field Day is June 5th.
  • The last day for kindergarteners is June 8th (Full Day).
  • The last day of school for grades 1-5 is June 14th – dismissal is at 11:40am.
  • Grade 5 Celebration is June 11th.
  • There is no before school band/orchestra rehearsal the last week of school.

At this time it looks like we will have 3 Kindergartens, 3 First Grades, 4 Second Grades, 3 Third grades, 3 Fourth grades and 3 Fifth grades for 2007-2008 school year.

We are looking for a parent who would like to join the School Council for the 2007 – 2008 school year. This group is comprised of 2 teachers, 2 parents, me, and a community member. We meet about once a month to review the budget, review reports from NEASC and write the school Improvement Plan for the following year. If you are interested please let me know. We will vote on a new parent representative at the June PCC Meeting. I would like to thank Robyn Hickey for her enthusiastic assistance on the School Council for the past 2 years.

Treasurer's Report by Susan Moll & Louella Long

Opening Balance for March: $30,051

  • Income: Isabella's $205, Auction $13,600, Fund A Cause $4,300, Box Tops $630, Panda Wear $600, Car Wash & Bottle Drive $520(5th Grade Celebration) BJ's $130
  • Expenses: Auction $1,900, Playground Equipment $272 (Penny Drive Funds), Barnes & Noble $325

General Business

  • Sign ups for next year's Committee Chairs now in progress
  • Auction – Thank you to committee for a wonderful evening and very successful event – Fund A Cause donations still being accepted
  • Isabella’s last night for Parmenter will be June 13th (program will not run over the summer) We will start up again in September
  • Playground Equipment Hula-Hoops and jump ropes are on order – Random Smiles (Local Charity) donated playground balls in recognition of Mrs. Sarapas years of service to our school
  • Field Day is Tuesday, June 5th – Rain Date Wednesday, June 6th
  • We are now contacting volunteers if you have not been contacted and would like to help out please contact Lynn Gilbert or Kathy White. For the new parents Field Day is a fun end of the year, all school/all day event held both indoors and outdoors. Volunteers can work in the am or pm and siblings are welcome! New Business:

  • First Parmenter School Wide Yard and Craft Sale is officially on June 2nd – Flyers will be sent home and displayed around town – Contact Beth Allard or Louella Long to rent space or questions

Next Meeting is June 8th at 10:00am in the Parmenter Library (Voting will take place on the PCC Budget and PCC Board Positions)
