Parmenter Times
November 2008

The November PCC meeting was held on Thursday, November 14th. There were 12 people in attendance.

Principal's Report

Just a reminder-There is NO SCHOOL on the day before Thanksgiving-WEDNESDAY, November 26th.

Reading and Math Support clubs (grades 3-5) are starting the week after Thanksgiving and will run until the first week in April vacation. Invitation letters are being sent home next week.

Report Cards go home on Tuesday, December 9th. We have half-days of school on Wednesday, December 10th and Thursday December 11th for conferences. We also have some evening conferences on the 11th too. I will be available for babysitting on the 10th and 11th from 1:00-4:00. Please call the office to reserve a spot!

On behalf of the entire staff at Parmenter, I want to express our wishes for a peaceful and restful Thanksgiving with your families.

General Business

High School All Night Party - Barb Blake was at our meeting to talk about the party for the high school students. The party is held the night of graduation and the committee is welcoming volunteers and donations. There are forms at the front office with Lois if anyone is interested in participating!

They are also selling "Panthers" bags for $3.00.

Wrapping paper will be "wrapping up" this Tuesday, November 18th from 4-6 pm. Please don't forget to pick up your items!

Yearbook - the cost is going up $.25 per book. The committee has asked for additional money from the PCC to cover the increase (approximately $70.00). The amount was approved by the PCC.

Holiday Shoppe is Wednesday, December 3rd from 4:30-7:00 pm. They are still accepting donations/items until December 1st.

Box Tops - There were 4 raffle winners for the month of October. We earned over $1,400.00. The co-chairs asked for an increase in the budget from $250-$300.

Bottle/Can Drive will be held on December 6th from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Volunteers are needed. Please contact Liz DiAntonio if you are interested in helping out!

Isabella's had a great month in October. Volunteers are still needed to greet. Please contact Jane Leo if you would like to help out!!

Field Day - Needs a new chairperson! Due to other commitments, Kathy and Karen are stepping down. Please contact someone on the board if you are interested in chairing this fun event!

Auction - First official meeting was Friday, November 2nd. The committee has all kinds of fun things in mind and a great location! If you would like to donate an item, or know of someone who is able to, please contact Tina Brabazon at cwb40@comcast.net.

Publicity Committee - If anyone needs to put an ad in the paper for their event or if a reporter is needed to cover a story for our school, please contact Nancy Lesperance at nlesperance@verizon.net.

Campbell's Soup Labels - Don't forget to clip the soup labels as well! It has allowed us to purchase playground equipment!

Panda Wear - We have already earned a $432.00 profit! Please contact Ingrid Cornetta if you are interested in purchasing a Parmenter t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc!

New Business

Nonna Rose's-there was a discussion about a possible fundraiser with Nona Rose's, a local food establishment in Franklin. The PCC voted that we will not be pursuing a fundraiser at this time, as we already have 2 similar fundraisers that have been on-going for the past few years.

Fun-Run - Karen Mahon shared some exciting details about a "Fun-Run" official 5k road race that will be held on Sunday, May 31st @10:00 am. We will have a timing company, t-shirts, running bibs, lots of great sponsors, activities and a separate run for the kids! There will be a Fun-Run committee meeting after Thanksgiving. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Karen Mahon at brianmahon11@comcast.net or Beth Allard at bethallard@verizon.net.

Playground Maintenance Committee - Anyone interested in helping keep our playground equipment in good shape, please contact Kim DiMarino. Kim and committee will periodically check on the items that our kids use on a daily basis and maintain them appropriately (ie: inflate balls, check jump ropes, etc).

Karen Guliano (a Parmenter mom) is teaching Zumba classes at the Senor Center on Friday nights at 7:00 pm. There is a $5.00 fee to take the class. Karen has generously offered to donate $2-$3 back to any Parmenter parents who attend the class! Simply place a "P" by your name on the sign up sheet. Why not plan a "girl's night out?" If you have never taken Zumba, you must go and check it out! It is great fun! Thank you Karen!

DON'T FORGET: THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON THE 26TH, 27TH and 28TH, DUE TO THE THANKSGIVING BREAK.

There will be no PCC meeting for the month of December. Our next PCC meeting will be held on January 9th at 10:00 am.

Mrs. B's Principal report may be found at http://www.franklin.ma.us/auto/school/parmenter/pcc

Wishing everyone a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
