Grading:
My grading system is based on percents in four categories. The following is a list of the categories in which I grade. On the progress reports, you will be able to see your child’s progress for each category. 1.Homework/Classwork: 15% Homework is assigned each class and may consist of exercises in the textbook, worksheets, or vocabulary practice. Zero credit is given for late homework. If a student is absent, I will accept it when he/she returns. There is always homework so please ask your child what his/her homework is. Classwork includes verbal activities, games, skits and completion of in-class reading and writing assignments. 2.Assessments: 40% Assessments are given at least twice a month to reinforce material learned. Assessments include Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Culture. All material is reviewed prior to the assessment. 3.Projects/Essays: 35% Projects are assigned weekly. Most are done in class. Others are independent projects that are completed at home. An appropriate amount of time is given with a specific rubric for grading purposes. Essays are assigned periodically and are associated with the vocabulary/grammar being studied. 4. Participation: 10% Students are given a participation grade for the following: Preparation for class; Frequency of participation; Class independence; Listening; Use of language |
