8312007_100238_1.bmp        To enable students to become comfortable while giving oral presentations.
8312007_100238_1.bmp
Students will have a better understanding about themselves as readers and make connections with their peers about reading genres, new authors and titles. Students will think critically about what they read.
8312007_100238_1.bmp        It is the goal to promote a fun and stress-free environment around reading.  It is also the goal to promote life-long reading habits of all students.
Rules and Guidelines:
8312007_100238_1.bmp        Each student is responsible to sign up for a Book Talk once a term.  Students must also read a different genre each book.  This will be tracked on the Peer Reading Log.
8312007_100238_1.bmp        All students must have an Independent Reading book that they are reading.  This book will travel to and from home on a daily basis.
8312007_100238_1.bmp
Students will be given an opportunity to read their book each day in school during Academic Extension for 20 minutes during Sustained Silent Reading (SSR).
8312007_100238_1.bmp         Students are also expected to read at least 60 minutes per week.  They will have a Reading Log for parents to sign off on that they read their required 60 minutes each week as part of their homework.
This grade counts as a test grade each term.
