Our essential question for the current unit is "Where can Proportions take you?

Our objectives for this unit are:

1)  To recognize percents as ratios with a common scale of 100.
2)  To recognize percents as a convenient way to compare ratios.
3)  To solve percent problems using proportions.
4)  To calculate percent increase or percent decrease.
5)  To Interpret comparisons that use ratios and percentages.


Math 8A
Our essential question for the current unit is "How will FOIL make your life simpler"

Our objectives for this unit are:

1)  To use geometric models in illustrating the distributive property to expand expressions of the form a(b+c).
2)  Represent algebraic expressions using rectangle models.
3)  Simplify expressions by combining like terms.
4)  Write and solve simple linear equations related to angle measures.
5)  Multiply an expression by a monomial, and explore dividing an expression by a monomial.
6)  Use geometric models to multiply binomials.
7)  Multiply binomials using the distributive property.
8)  Understand patterns or shortcuts in multiplying binomials.
9)  Understand the pattern and apply a shortcut to sqaure binomials of the form (a+b)2 and (a+b)2.
10)  Understand the pettern and apply a shortcut to expand binomials of the form (x+a)(x-a).
