Essential Questions:

What is energy and how does it impact our daily lives?

Objectives:  SWBAT (Students will be able to...)

  • Describe how energy is transformed from one form to another
  • Calculate the gravitational potential energy of an object
  • Describe how thermal energy is related to heat and temperature
  • Explain the relationship between temperature, thermal energy, and heat
  • Describe the behavior of particles in substances of different temperatures

8th Grade Science - Essential Questions and Learning Objectives

Week of May 21, 2012

Essential Questions:

What is matter made up of?
How do we measure matter?
How do we describe matter?

Objectives:  SWBAT (Students will be able to...)

  • differentiate between atoms, elements, molecules, and compounds
  • describe the organization of the periodic table
  • research a specific element and describe its physical and chemical properties
  • research a specific element and identify its uses in the real world
