Counseling Services

The counseling program at Annie Sullivan Middle School consists of a School Adjustment Counselor and a School Psychologist. It is designed to be both preventative and developmental. Both the adjustment counselor and the psychologist focus on the academic, social and emotional needs of the students. They are available to assist with any issues, questions or concerns that should arise in these areas throughout the school year.
Who refers students to the Adjustment Counselor or Psychologist

Who refers students to the Adjustment Counselor or Psychologist?

School personnel (i.e. teachers, Assistant Principal, Principal and nurse) all may refer a student to the Adjustment Counselor if they believe he or she may benefit from this service.

A parent may refer a student to the Adjustment Counselor or Psychologist or may call them for some information, advice, suggestions or with concerns.

Students can also request to meet with the Adjustment Counselor or Psychologist themselves for assistance with various issues including academic, social or personal matters.

What kinds of services do we offer?

      • Individual meetings students
      • Small group meetings with students
      • Lunch Groups
      • New Student Groups
      • Mediation and conflict resolution for students, parents and school staff.
      • Crisis intervention
      • Classroom activities
      • Facilitate meetings with cluster teachers at each grade level once per cycle to discuss student concerns.

Where are we located?

The Adjustment Counselor and the Psychologist’s office are both located in the main office of the middle school.

Both the Adjustment Counselor and Psychologist have information relative to community resources such as intervention programs and outside counselors / psychologists. Feel free to contact one of us, should you need this information. In addition, your family physician is a good resource.
